Laura Denise has had an extensive career in all things sporting.
Over the last 15 years she has gone from competing for England to Trinidad at such events as Commonwealth Championships, the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) and Pan American Games to name a few. She is also a former British record holder and is currently a World Masters record holder and Grand Master lifter. Now semi-retired LD, as she is also known, is turning her expertise to the younger generation in the form of coaching/tutoring. Due to her vast knowledge on Olympic Weightlifting LD is also a national referee; she knows exactly what to look out for from her lifters that will warrant a red light in competitions. In her spare time she also mentors young people with special needs as well as working as a GP Referral instructor giving health and fitness advice on well-being to the older sector of the community. Laura Denise is also the President of the Trinidad & Tobago Olympic Weightlifting Federation. |
The General Secretary, Laurence Carbon, is a 2nd Dan Si – Fu, teacher in Kung Fu. ( Lao Ma Quan ), he has been active in for the last 25 years. He is also a special needs coach and mentor and is the Federation's sports massage therapist. Specialising in sports massage, cupping and deep tissue massage. Together they run a special needs company called Zodiac Arts, founded in 2003 by Laurence Carbon. Alongside an Olympic Weightlifting club West London Lifters. |
